Free Nature Journal For Children
Here’s a free printable nature journal with a colorful glossary, too!

Below, you can print out my free nature journal for kids!
The journal is great for most places in North America.
The first part of the journal includes a helpful full color glossary to help your child learn how to identify common trees, flowers, plants, bugs, and birds that are found in most of North America.
There is also a page your child can list all the various places they have brought their nature journal!
The rest of the journal includes lightly guided entry pages, each with a place to write the date, where they are, a place to circle what the weather is like, and a space for drawing or writing what they saw on their outdoor adventure.
The book is designed to be printed front and back, then folded in half before being stapled.
Assembling it this way is great for several reasons:
- The lack of having to cut and assemble makes your life easier — just fold, staple, and go!
- The folded binding gives a more professional finish
- Front and back saves on paper!
- The smaller size of this journal makes it wonderful for little hands to hold
- Smaller size = more travel friendly!
And of course, if you can’t get your printer to print it this way, it’s easy to just print it, cut out each page on the solid black line, and staple! Your journal will be just as functional this way!
