Supplies Needed
To make these frogs, you will need the following supplies.
- Small amount of fabric for the bodies and clothes
- 1/4″ wide elastic
- Safety Pin
- Sewing Machine
- Hand sewing needle and thread
- Sock weight (weight 1) yarn
- Buttons with 2 holes for the eyes
Trace Pattern Pieces
First, trace your pattern pieces over two layers of fabric.
Your two layers of fabric should be right sides together.

Sew directly onto your traced lines, leaving the dotted edges as marked on your paper templates OPEN.

Cut your fabric
Cut your fabric only AFTER you have first sewed over your traced lines.
Leave a 1/4″ seam allowance around your seams.
Turn everything right side out. A pencil is a helpful tool when turning the arms and legs right side out.
Stuff with wool
Stuff everything with wool.
For the arms and legs, I stuffed the hands/felt with wool. then filled the arms and legs with poly pellets.

Sew the arms and legs closed to help contain the poly pellets.

Assemble Your Frog
Use a hand sewing needle to attach the arms and legs onto your frog.

Place the legs inside the bottom of your frog’s body and fold the raw edges of the bottom of the frog’s body to the inside to hem them as you sew.

Final Touches
Use thin, lightweight (sock-weight) yarn for embroidering features on your frog.
Use a separate piece of yarn as a guide for what direction to sew in. This helps you visualize where to sew.

Stitch a mouth on the body of your frog.

Use your yarn to sew buttons onto your frog for the eyes. I think 2-hole buttons look best.
Making the shorts
To make the shorts, trace the shorts pattern piece on the fold of your fabric.

Cut 2.
Place right sides together, and sew to the “point”.

Open the shorts so the seam is in the center.

Sew the legs and crotch of the shorts.
Hem the legs.

Fold down the waistband, leaving enough space (and an opening) to pull a 1/4″ width piece of elastic through.
Measure a piece of elastic to the wait of your frog, and use a safety pin to push it through the waistband.

Sew your elastic together, and sew your “opening hole” for your elastic closed.
Sewing the skirt
Cut two rectangles for the skirt, each measuring 6″ by 5″.

Sew them together, using a French seam (optional, but looks neat and tidy!).
Hem the bottom of the skirt.
Create an elastic waistband the same way you made the waistband for the shorts.

Sew the ends of the skirt together.

Happy sewing!
