Chocolate chip cookies are perhaps the most common favorite cookie for many, so it’s important to have the best recipe you can for them!

Our family loves these cookies — they are super soft, maybe even softer the day after you’ve made them!

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup melted butter (1 1/2 sticks)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 chocolate chips

Instructions

    Preheat your oven to 350 degrees farenheit.
    Melt your butter. Let cool until warm (no longer hot).
    In a stand mixer, mix together your butter, sugar, and egg until creamy and the sugar is no longer gritty.
    Mix your remaining ingredients, except for your chocolate chips. Do not overmix.
    Gently mix in your chocolate chips.
    Divide the dough into smooth rounded balls and place evenly on a baking sheet.
    Bake in a 350 degree oven for 13 minutes, or until the cookies no longer look "wet" but golden brown in the center.
    After removing from the oven, leave the cookies on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before removing to allow them to firm up and not fall apart while transferring to a wire cooling rack.

Do I need to chill the dough first?

Yes! It’s best to allow the dough to chill for at least 30 minutes before making these cookies. (2-3 hours is better, and you can also chill up to one day in advance!)

They will turn out better if you chill the dough first!

How long can I store these cookies?

These cookies will be good kept in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
