Supplies Needed:

  • Small amount of fabric
  • Sewing machine
  • Optional — yarn or embroidery floss to embroider a face on your rabbit egg!
  • FREE pattern, found at the bottom of this page!

Step 1: Print your Pattern

First, print out your free pattern!

You can find this at the bottom of the page.

The pattern has 3 pieces — the front piece, and 2 back pieces.

Trace the templates onto your fabric, and cut out one of each piece.

Step 2: Hem the back pieces

Next, you’ll want to hem the two back pieces.

This is so easy to do — just fold over the “rectangular” portions on the back pieces, and sew across.

This will keep your eggs neat and prevent fraying.

It will help your eggs hold up with year after year use!

Step 3: Sew your egg!

Next, we’ll assemble our egg!

Simply line up your back top and bottom pieces onto the front piece of the egg, right sides together.

Then, using a 3/8″ seam allowance and sewing very slowly, sew all the way around your egg.

This will “seal” your egg, leaving your hemmed opening on the back for placing and removing Easter treats!

Turn your egg right side out.

Iron flat.

Optional Step 4: Embroider a face onto your egg

The final step on this Easter egg is optional — if you wish, embroider a face onto your egg!

A face gives this egg personality, and really highlights the fact that it is a RABBIT!

Embroider a face, and even some pink inner ears… or just leave it as-is!
